Document Summary
Lecture 2 january 13th 2016: behavior geneics. Diferences between individuals and within a group. As individuals we difer and vary from each other : physically, emoionally and spiritually. Image of group of individuals: they difer in height, iq, and intelligence. How much are environmental: nature/nurture applicaion to individual diferences. Study hereditability: the extent which our individual diferences are due to geneics (see later) How do we study hereditability: number of diferent studies (see below) Monozygoic twins (idenical) versus dizygoic twins (fraternal) Idenical: 1 egg, 1 sperm = same sex only, 100% the same. Raionale: if a trait, behavior, disease has a geneic component, idenical twins should be more similar on that trait than fraternal twins because idenical are 100% geneically similar, ex. ) Black/white sibling babies = because both grandparents have a white/black side. Alzheimer"s: 1 idenical twin has it = 60% the other will. Why is it only 60%: 1 fraternal twin has it = 30% the other will.
