Optic nerve thinner in infants: less developed and not myelinated, poor informaation transmission. Di cult for infants to focus the eyes on the same thing. Need activity to develop: visual stimuli. Pain they can feel it: will cry and their heartbeat will increase. Touch/ haptic perception : sensitive to touch in the womb, tactile stimuli elicits re exes in newborn, recognition of objects by touch and feel. Positive sweet smells like bananas and strawberries. Negative sour, rotten or bitter like rotten eggs or sh: preferences changes though.
