It can be seen as a negative term: ex: any behaviour that goes against the norms like binge drinking, doing drugs, risky sex, etc. But, it also can be viewed as a positive term: ex: taking a chance on thing changing careers, travelling, relationships, etc. It is important to take risks since they are needed for development: without them, we would depress or stagnate in our development. At this stage in life, there are more negative risks than positive. Impacts of emerging adults risks on early childhood development : could normalize the behaviour which would result in young children trying things earlier, these risks have consequences and could negatively impact a young child. Statistical prediction used for health warnings, inform laws and policy: applies to population. Process/mechanisms highly complex and in real-life embedded in other systems: it"s more di cult to understand on the individual level, impact may not be all or nothing often on a spectrum.
