PSY 2105 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Miosis, Cell Nucleus, Behavioural Genetics
Document Summary
For humans, development begins with the parental production of sperm and egg the individual"s genetic givens. It is the nature of genes, their functions and disorders, and the scientific means of examining same that are the foci of this chapter. Several models have been developed which examine possible ways in which behaviour may result from the interaction of genes and environment. The primary focus of this chapter is on how behaviour is influenced by genetic processes. Learning objectives 3. 1 - identify and describe the mechanisms and processes by which physical and behavioural characteristics are inherited: explain the composition of chromosomes and explain how they contribute to the genetic make-up of parental offspring. Include a description of dominant and recessive genes and explain the difference between genotype and phenotype in your answer: contrast meiosis and mitosis to explain why these processes are different.
