Has your role in your family changed (e. g. as a university student): ex. When you move out and come back to visit, family misses you and treat you: expectations for you to have a stable job at a certain age differently. Sociocultural approaches: social context; social systems, emerging adulthood. Environmental/learning theory: reward, punishment, imitation/creativity, pavlov, watson, skinner, bandura. Evolutionary theory: darwin, emphasizes theories that are universal throughout time, protective roles, division of labour (hunting, caregiving), maximizing genetic fitness, Epigenetics: process-based, genes interacting with the environment. Parental control: supervision and regulation, authoritative: sense of expertise, knowledge, authoritarian: controlling (ex. authoritarian regime), because i told you so , permissive, uninvolved. Authoritative has best outcomes better adjusted, more social in schools: more confident, popular, autonomous. Authoritarian fear punishment and lying to parents, or obedient but doesn"t understand why, not long-term when not reinforced (when granted freedom), or feel lost without the control (often feel anxious and worried)
