In general : we form impressions quickly and on the basis of little information, pick up on cues and that activates schemas from memory. We don"t need to spend hours to form an impression, usually it only takes a minute. Form very brief impression of people that actually grabs your attention when you"re walking. Short-term memory and disappears after a couple seconds: ex. Some people don"t fit our already-made schemas, so we need to create a new schema for a new person and that takes a bit of time: our needs and goals influence how we perceive others.
