Even in 1944 when it became clear that german would lose the war, hitler and his supporters didn"t give up their war against the jews. His forces pursued the killing of the largest remaining jewish population in europe- the jews of hungary. The story of 5 hungarian survivors during the last year of world war ii. Bulk of jew in budapest were assimilated and deeply patriotic, proud of hungarian heritage. 2 wars: military war, ss war- war directed against the jews. 1944: occupation of hungary; germans (the ss) entered hungary. Decree to pack up 25 kg of things from the house. Deportation program: took place in concentrated manner within 12 weeks. Transported to concentration camps by train carts.
