Death is outside the person and their control. Always the sense that somehow things can be ixed or changed. Dead are powerful beings, therefore there is a deep respect for them. Elaborate funerals constructed to ensure dead passed over and were not a danger to the living. In some cultures the living did not forget the dead. Dead could provide services for the living: communicaion accomplished thru shamans, ancestors served as role models, provided link between living and the gods. Name avoidance was/praciced by some cultures: never menioned, some cultures a living person much change their name if it"s the same as the dead person"s. Other cultures revere dead person name by passing it to new generaion - way to make the name live again.
