Put body in, shut door, decompose with everything. Concept of death - awareness of one"s own. Wills were a testament to the person not a disposiion of wealth o. Descripion of what ppl did in their life e. g. had 4 kids became doctors, took care of husband (the good/bad stuf too) Death of the other was emphasized - romanicized. Religion gave way to reason - doctors began to understand what killed ppl. Death was beauiful, survivors were allowed to express their emoions. Iniiaion of ceremonies to help the survivors - funerals, elaborate tombs. Memorializaion of the dead - elaborate ceremonies, tombstones. Finality made less severe by the aterlife and by perpetuaing the deceased o. Grief suppressed - don"t express emoion in hospital to protect the ppl, the kids and therefore detached kids w ideas of death.
