Hubel &weisel proposed model, where several lgn cells having rfs lined up on retina feed into one v1 cell. Directional motion selectivity- also found v1 cells sensitive to direction of motion of stimulus. These are first stage in our ability to process moving stimuli. Organization of v1- how are the various cells in v1 organized. Hubel ad wiesel proposed ice cube model, whereby orientation and ocular dominance columns varied independently. Also proposed location hypercolumn, which is a set of all orientation columns and 2 ocular dominance columns. Nor are color processing, spatial frequency, or m vs p channels. Cytochrome oxidase blobs- interlaced with location hypercolumns are another set of columns that show high neural activity. Used to be thought to be evolved in color processing and called color blobs. Actually, they seem to integrate info from m and p cells. M peripheral function as opposed to central from retinotopic emphasis.
