Document Summary
P s y 3 1 2 1 : p s y c h o l o g y o f w o m e n. Information must be observable: systematic observation, deliberately choose how you are going to observe and gather your observations = systematic, random samples, time series etc. Includes both descriptive and experimental research: descriptive research: what? , no modifications or control, just observations, experimental research: why? , control and manipulate variables. Experimental research: establishes cause and effect , no cause and effect unless you manipulate your variable, can find correlations over time from causation, but doesn"t necessarily mean v. v. works, e. g. Independent = what was manipulated: dependent = what was measured. Ex post facto studies: means after the fact , compares someone who has the variable you are looking for to someone who doesn"t, but matches it all other variables (e. g. age, ses, education, etc. )
