Traditionally, women"s work has been in the household. Wife to keep her husband happy, as a mother to raise children, have meals on the table, cleaning laundry, sewing, ironing, and in keeping her house clean and organized. Women"s work was primarily in the private sphere, with little being done in the public sphere. Poor women could have also worked in factories during the industrial revolution, where more hands were needed. Women were paid for their work in some areas of society. Regarded as a career for immoral women who had sunk to the lowest level of society. You would only do this if you had no other option.
