Conflict theory: focused on finding someone who is a good match depending on class. Developmental tasks: intimacy is the key task they face (finding someone you can share intimacy with) What kind of relationship will it be, defining it is an issue as it affects other relationships. Interaction patterns that occur early on tend to be relatively stable. Pressure to marry within the ethnic group, friends, family etc.
