Document Summary

Most people require some corrective lenses by the time they get into their 60s. Presbyopia: loss of ability to focus on near objects, most common age related change. This is caused by the thickening of the lease, can"t adapt it"s shape to see objects which are close to the face. There is no treatment but some evidence that you can prolong your eyesight by environmental factors. Decreased amount of light your eye can take in, making it problematic to see in the dark or dim lighting. This can increase falling and driving at night. The way they are designing cars makes this problem more, because car headlights are becoming stronger. The cornea becomes more translucent and scatters light more, increasing sensitivity to glare. Sometimes colour can become distorted, and fine colour discrimination can decrease. This is only really problematic for certain careers. Visual acuity: the ability to see fine details worsens.
