Compared to friendships, siblings cannot be chosen. Sometimes people have close connections with their siblings. Gold and colleages identified 5 kinds of sibling relationships. Inolvement they have with eachother on a regular basis. Factors that affect relationships: closeness , contact, level of envy, level of resentment. 5 kinds of sibling relationships: congenial relationships , high levels of closeness and involvement, have average levels of contact. Positive sibling relationships low levels of envy and resentment: loyal relationships average levels of closeness and involvement and contact low levels of envy and resentment. Loyal siblings have a good relationship but they place moreemphasis with their children or on their marital relationships.
