Bulimia nervosa was introduced rst in 1980s, dsm-3. Dsm-4 is published in 1994 and they re ned the diagnostic criteria for bulimia and anorexic nervosa. Put binging disorder in the dsm-4 as a section for research criteria. Purging disorder is now part of research criteria in dsm-5. Purging = only the purging part of binging disorder, they"re relatively normal weight. Orthorexia = something to do with being preoccupied with diets, dieting, and so called healthy diets . Dissatisfaction w/ith size and/or shape of one"s body or body parts (ex: stomach) Is severe in people w/ anorexia nervosa in an unusual way. Is severe and more likely w/ bulimia nervosa as they"re overweight or underweight. Preoccupation w/ one"s body weight, a desire to lose weight, the pursuit of thinness. Undue in uence of body shape and weight on one"s scheme for self-evaluation. Putting way too much emphasis on shape and weight that in uences the way one sees themselves.
