Christine has had 22 personalities over her lifetime: eve white and eve black were two of them, there are di erent voices and facial expressions, they last for di erent times, alters were in competition. 2/3 of those with did have physical changes: allergies, arthritis, deaf, some are right handed and others are left handed. Fragments of 1 personality, no longer considered di erent personalities: this fragmentation occurs in childhood in response to a trauma, like sexual abuse (most are from that) The trauma makes them disconnect from reality: memory holes are a big symptom. A lack of good therapy in the 70s could have led to more alters. Mixed consensus amongst psychiatrists some believe that there is over-abundance of diagnoses and some believe that it is under-diagnosed. Alters can be di erent ages often some are the age of the person when the trauma occurred. Integration therapy is used type of therapy done through hypnosis.
