Psychopathology = frustration of one"s tendency to realize his or her potential. Biographies (l-data) of exceptionally self-actualized (well-adapted) people. If people are put in the right social context, they can thrive and grow to their fullest psychological potential. If they are not allowed to grow this is the root to psychopathology. People who achieved in the most extraordinary ways were of particular interest to. He studied the lives (l-data) of extraordinary people to learn the conditions in which they grew to perhaps give the same opportunities to other people. See figure on p. 178 of textbook. People have a drive to satisfy basic needs first, and if given the chance, then will satisfy the more psychological ones. Basic needs create more motivation to fulfil them.
