We need to consider the whole person (personality), as opposed to just iq. Two ways to look at personality change: 1) does your rank order change? (relative change and relative continuity, 2) does your individual score change? (absolute change and absolute continuity) Ex: height, we all have absolute change, or absolute discontinuity because we all grow taller. If we don"t change in our ranking with other people, we have relative (differential) stability. Extraversion can be split into two traits: (1) social vitality and (2) social dominance: if split, social vitality decreases and social dominance increases. May be true because experience gives you dominance socially. Big five is very broad, so lose information/details at that level.
