They may interpret what"s going on to fit their hypothesis--> best way to prevent this is to have multiple people observing with a standardized checklist of things we are looking for. Inter-judge reliability --> we need to have a high correlation between one person and another one or more people observing the same thing. Want to have high correlation of at least 0. 9 so we can say the observers agree on what they saw: only descriptive, can not draw causal conclusions. Systematically measuring the relationship btw two or more variables ( how much changes in one variable has an influence on another: to describe the strength of the relationship between the two variables we use : correlation. Coefficients --> indicates the strength and direction of the relationship.
