Def"n: mind separate from the body, different realm from the physical world. The seat of the soul and the control of voluntary movement - in fact, of nervous functions in general, - are to be sought in the heart. The brain is an organ of minor importance. One of the first to suggest somatogenic causes of abnormal behaviour. Dysfunction of the body leads to dysfunction of thought and action. He believed that psychopathology was the result of the body"s humours. Suggested the epilepsy caused by problems in the brain, suggested that the brain is in fact the seat of the mind.
