Interviews: a research design that involves asking questions of research participants. It can take several forms: structured interview, semi-structured interview, and unstructured interview. Qualitative researchers prefer semi- and unstructured interviews, whereas quantitative researchers always use structured interviews to collect information. Observation: a way of collecting data that involves close monitoring of events, individuals, environments, or phenomenon. Case study: a type of research design that is concerned with the situation of a single person, group, town, institution, or nation. The case study treats the entity as the unit of analysis.
