SCS 1150 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Hunter-Gatherer, Political Correctness, Craig Kielburger
Document Summary
Most people knew what they new from local truths before cosmopolitanism. In anti cosmopolitan terms: the world of the local: it"s all you"ve ever known. When you go from these hunter gatherer societies to others, they realize that they really don"t know all that much of other people. This whole thing of mass technology, education, media, it means you reach straight from the local anywhere into the world. It"s a mass exposure and it ends your captivity by your locals, you no longer have to rely on local truths. If you"re going global, you can also get bad advice, brainwashed ideas, ideas can travel like a bad virus. You don"t necessarily have the same agenda as someone else. Spread of ideas, breaking down of sociological barriers. To escape local truths and increase your knowledge at a global level: globalization/multiculturalism/cosmopolitanism (negative or positive?)
