Developing an appreciation of how individual challenges influences by larger social forces. Need to make connections between the micro and the macro. Social issues are caused by larger social factors. E. g rosa parks: personal trouble becomes a social issue. The trick is in understanding how these personal troubles may indeed be due to larger social issues. A theory is a set of interrelated propositions, constructed and fitting together logically, which claims to explain one or more aspects of the world around us.
