New york times article headline announced, facebook and youtube fuel the egyptian protests . Demonstrating a more moderate view recent writings on the middle east revolutions place the accomplishments of the revolutions squarely on the shoulders of the people of the middle east while arguing that snss are important as well. Documentary: how facebook changed the world: arab spring (bbc production) Somebody had to show the outside world what was happening . Slowly the situation started to head up and later that night the demonstration turned into a street battle: a peaceful demonstration later became a police confrontation, which later became a street war. Police were throwing tear gas and shooting live bullets.
