Language - words enter relationships with each other (makes sentences and they have meaning which point to other systems of production of meaning) Social network theory is a relational theory - its main concern is with the analysis of relations. Relations are external to their terms (david humme) This theory is interested in the relations, not the characteristics the objects posses.
