Morphemes: the basic meaningful segment of a word, writers is composed of three morphemes, writ: to paint, to draw the figure of, er: an agent of action, s: number. Affixation, compounding, conversion, clipping, abbreviation, blending, stress interchange, backformation. An affix is added to the root of a word to change its meaning. Creating shorter forms of words or word groups. Often, by clipping a part of two words and joining them together. The non-affixed form of a complex word is derived later.
