Transculturation: moving from culture to culture (physically or psychologically) People move to a new country and face pressure to assimilate and change. This may put the person in between the two cultural states: in betweenness . Through discourse we know and understand the world discourse lets us understand the world we live in. Maps allow us to see and navigate the world, however, they are not objective. We saw this in the maps from lecture two that showed europe in the centre, or when we looked at the map upside down. We also see different influences in maps (religion, certain cultures and beliefs) Rewritings: there is a postcolonial act of writing back to colonialism, example: rhys" wide sargasso sea (1966) in response to brontee"s jane. Transnationalism: encompasses not only the movement of people but also of notions f citizenship, technology, global markets.
