What does it all mean?

➢ Difference is the objective: compensation or punishment
➢ The object of civil law is making amends by compelling compensation or
restitution

make good the wrong they have done
❖ Those who have suffered get a definite benefit from the law, or at least they
avoid a loss
➢ The object of criminal law is to punish the wrongdoing
❖ To give them and others a strong incentive not to commit same or similar crimes
