Document Summary

In canada we have a single payer system. 70% of canada is public and 30% private. In the us, co-pay refers to a deductible. A co-pay makes sure people don"t use the doctor for unnecessary things. Co-pay might discourage people from going to the doctor. Overall, making people pay for services is considered a barrier. Canada, western europe and japan has a public single payer system. Good health is treated as a commodity in the us, but in canada it"s a human right. In the us you roll and dice and gamble, hope you don"t get sick and need to see a doctor. Private insurance companies dictate how much you"re going to pay for services. Its not illegal not to have health insurance in the us. In canada, you can go to jail for not having health insurance because it is paid through your taxes tax invasion. If you see a doctor it doesn"t cost you anything.
