Document Summary

Memory is a collaborative process that we do with ourselves. Confabulation: when we make things up that we honestly believe we were remembering. You only pay attention to a small amount of what"s going on around you, which is what has reaped rewards in the past. Our memory is based on expectations, experience, belief and affected by all the things going on around us at any given moment. Hippocampus puts together all the perceptions that we have in the brain. Our memories are terribly flawed; not as good as we think it is. Memory is one of the most mysterious things that the brain does; we don"t know where memory is stored. Conscious memory: a spotlight if we put it there and keep it there we can use it to assist in making a memory. If you pay attention, you"ll encode it and be able to remember it later. We put our attention naturally to where there"s threat or danger.
