Emotional stress during pregnancy may result in hyperactive, irritable, feeding/sleep issue babies. Nutritional deficiencies that interfere w healthy prenatal devo intensify adverse drug effects. Mom"s diet informs fetus of local circumstances so it can physiologically calibrate to best match. Early socialization = process by which parents ensure kids" standards of behaviours, attitudes, skills, motives, etc. conform closely to those deemed appropriate to his/her role in society; mutual shaping process family"s role = shape child"s behaviour. The family system: families influenced by larger settings they exist within; part of a larger system: Bronfenbrenner"s ecological model of development margaret made every man cry. Emphasizes importance of kid"s interactions w people/institutions in kid"s like as well as social/cultural institutes, attitudes/belief systems in environment; interaction perspective. Microsystem: context in which kid lives + interacts w people/institutes closet to them ex. parents, peers, school; can have more than one. Mesosystem: interrelations occurring among microsystem components w which kid interacts ex. bad morning bad school day.
