They develop from infancy, but don"t have all five in place to start with. In fact they need to be learned despite it being hardwired. Transduction of physical energy to a neural signal. Difference threshold: jnd (just noticeable diff) smallest diff that can be detected. It"s incoming, called electromagnetic radiation that goes in. Magnocellular pathway: transducing the size and shape. All come to back of head to occ lobe. Infants good at size and shape which only takes about 3-4 months of dev"l. Radar: to detect thins that we can"t see. X-rays: so small can get b/w your cells and molecules. Wavelength of light is the distance of one complete cycle.
