Document Summary

Anomie- many felt lost and excluded, did not feel a sense of belonging which therefore created a problem. Social change brings in more anomie (more conflict) Functionalists make history go back; capitalists make history go further. Conflict theorists see society, or any kind of social setting want to see what are the divisions within these societies, which groups are being benefited, which ones are being underappreciated or excluded. Benefits few, but not the large number of people. He thought that these workers don"t know they belong to these powerful workers, much less educated. Capitalists know what they are doing, have more knowledge of minimum however, however they end up getting paid less than they should because they don"t know. Workers realizing, they are workers and have a specific amount of power class consciousness. For conflict theorists, helping people realize their worth and class in society was the main idea, which would eventually lead to historic progress.
