Document Summary

March 7, 2013: sex is the biological differences that distinguish males from females. About anatomy and hormones: gender is a social position, the set of social arrangements that are built around normative sex categories. Cheerleading: back in the days, all cheerleaders use to be male, while women were excluded. It showed masculinity, because they did complicated routines that involved strength and flexibility, not as much cheer, but more stunts. They were considered to be in the same prestige as football players. People thought it was a very valuable experience for any boy to have, as far as even leading to a job promotion. But when men went off to war, spots opened up and women took their places. When the men came back, some women were banned, while some stayed even though they were put down for their choice. People said women should not be showing off or raising their voices, it was a man"s sport.
