The way society is organized into layers or strata. Mobility if you"re born poor can you become wealthy? (or vice versa) The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer. People who are born with advantage tend to keep it, people born disadvantaged tend to stay poor. You tend to stay in the class you are born into. The government should not provide jobs or basic income. Social and cultural capital social capital: your network/who you know; cultural capital: high status markets. Economic cycles booms and busts economy rises and falls. Certain occupations are more prestigious, but may not make as much money as less- Women are more likely to be low income earners. Low-income gap between men and women is growing.
