Segregation of job between women and men e. g. engineering male dominated job vs. female dominated daycare job (value of work) Disruption of work due to child birth, taking care of family etc. If you have 5 years of break it is more difficult to find a job for women. Significant gap of not working affects many stages in the lives of women e. g. pension, seniority. Men are more likely to ask for a promotion or raise while women are less likely to ask because they"(cid:396)e diffe(cid:396)e(cid:374)t (cid:272)o(cid:374)se(cid:395)ue(cid:374)(cid:272)es fo(cid:396) those a(cid:272)tio(cid:374)s. Women are less likely to run for office. Lots of social factors rather than biological difference between men and women. Common explanation for difference is biological determinism (nature) vs. Gender refers to socially and culturally construed behaviours. Gender difference examples: the colour pink, the way men and women dress. She makes the idea that often what we think as male or female exist intersex people.
