First wavers also included african american women like sojourner truth who was a slave abolitionist and worked for the rights of women to vote, to be educated and own property. The second wave was an equal rights movement 1960"s 80"s. Wanted to reform social and political institutions to ensure women"s equality. They understood women"s oppression embedded in cultural practices that reinforced power, privilege and patriarchy. Campaigned for reform of the judicial process.
