Length of sentences controls the pace of the reading. When describing an action, its proffered to use short sentences so the reader won"t feel lost. Instead of pointing out how the characters are feeling, its more powerful to lead them to that. Same with the conclusion, its better to lead them to that conclusion. Don"t waste the reader"s time, get straight to the point. Interfering factors: wordiness, dead verbs, clich s, passive voice. They put their ideas down first then start filtering them. Imagine having a blank paper that you have to create a meaning out of. The more you edit the better it becomes. The ideas might not be all necessary, filter them. Rewiting it doesn"t mean its completely done. The uses of many or too many words. English has so many synonyms that many people often use them instead of using that one perfect word.
