Document Summary

The (scape)goat: the tale of unpasteurized milk and undulant fever. Irregular fevers (from 370c in morning to 400c in afternoon: bone and joint complications (40% of cases, chills, weakness, insomnia, headaches, malaise, weight loss and constipation, nervousness and depression. History of the discovery: bacteria originated in egypt. The bacteria thought to be discovered in malta by colonel bruce in 1887: actually discovered by maltese dr. zammit. The disease disappears in around ww2 because people started eating them again but then it spikes up because they wanted to keep goats for fertilizer and fecal matter and because people were malnourished after the war. So instead of removing all goats and eating them, they ended up keeping them which raised the number of cases. This also caused typhoid fever: people keep goats because they will eat anything unlike cows which are more picky.
