Document Summary

I thought that the work of basil alzeri and the rest of the artists featured in the gallery embodied themes that expressed the social, urban, and political history of scarborough. This spoke to not only the heritage of indigenous people but also of the dynamics of urban. In particular the artist lori blondeau illustrated unique imagery in her work. Where she took photos of an indigenous model along the background of a natural environment. These photos in particular drew my attention because the women depicted in the photos were wearing all red standing upon different structures. The colour red is and can be associated with love, passion, desire, willpower, courage, and radiance. But this colour can also represent blood, rage, anger, danger, stress, and malice. I believe that lori blondeau chose red because it embodied passion, and she knew that would draw attention to her photos.
