Document Summary
Slide 4: optical microscopy develop over 400 years. First electron microscope was built by a prof from uoft. Slide 5: light energy comes in packets (=photons) that have wavelike characteristics. Proton contain a fix amount of energy that relate to its wavelength. Visual spectra is about 400 nanometer to 700 nanometer: each of those wavelength differ in terms of energy that the light contain. Lower wavelength higher energy, higher wavelength lower energy. Slide 6: lights interact with matter in three different ways: reflect, absorbed, transmitted through the object (transparent object) Slide 7: photon absorb energy then emit a fluorescence light. Electron absorbs energy, that energy pushes that electron to a higher level or an excited stat. Electron move from a low energy level to a higher level: can be used in the process of photosynthesis. Emission of a photon is called a fluorescence. Slide 8: alternating double and single bond is a key feature to absorb energy.
