Document Summary

They want to make the host survive. Parasitoids: a species which acts as a parasite, but ultimately sterilizes, kills, or consumes: parasites often use only one or a few hosts its host. Fatal, or functionally so cannot pass on genes, etc. Microparasites: larger organisms such as arthopods, plants, worms, etc. Microparasites: parasitic organisms too small to be seen with the naked eye (e. g. bacteria, protists, some fungi: pathogens: microparasites that cause disease. Hemiparasites: parasites which are facultative or do not derive all of their nutrition from their host. Ectoparasites: live on the outside of the host, must penetrate exterior defenses: advantages: Endoparasites: live in the alimentary canal or the bodily fluids of the host, must battle external environment. Many parasitoids (host-killing) require a way to reach their next hosts. They influence the behaviour of their host in order to reach an optimal spot for dispersal: e. g. fungus that effects houseflies, and they burst out of body of fly.
