No repeatability bc organisms aren"t the same: time is a bitch -> nature is dynamic. History conspiracy theorists are right here, we can"t really know. There are so many factors so it"s v. difficult to measure the important ones : humans are shits and humans have altered every ecosystem. Malformed frogs in the 50"s -> experimented on them via hypotheses -> turned out to be a parasite that fucks up frog limbs. Field studies =/= experimental studies: gotta know what you"re fucking with before you fuck with it. Controlled experiments (what angela does except with ecosystems) -> predictive models use computers. Field labs = actual models -> have control groups + experimental groups: sometimes you need controls for your controls bc nature is variable and can"t always be replicated in the lab. Generality -> large scale studies + predictive models. Precision -> lab experiments: no experiment can have all 3.
