Document Summary
Genes: distinct physical units of inheritance, sequence of dna that is associated with, regulatory regions, coding / non-coding regions, other functional sequences. Genetics: physical nature of genes, patterns that predict heredity patterns of the genes i. e. how the genes will be transmitted from parent to progeny. Behavioural genetics is the area of research that is concerned with the application of genetic methods and research designs to study how genes are related to human and animal behaviour. Choosing for traits a baby will be born with. Genetic factors protein structure physical features behaviour. Spandrel (biology): a phenotype produces as the bi-product of the evolution of some other characteristic, rather than as a direct result of natural selection (gould and lewontin 1979: a phenotype deriving from an unrelated adaptation. Behavioural repertoire: set of behaviours characteristic either of an entire species or of a single member of a species.
