The story begins with a water state/chaos called tiamat. It is conceived of as a female character (a salt water deity). Tiamat links with apsu which is conceived of a male deity, connected to fresh water. They produce an offspring, apsu wishes to destroy the offsprings. Tiamat sends her offspring ea to kill apsu. Marduk is set to be the son of ea. Tiamat created a monster called kingu to destroy ea and marduk in order to take back her primordial power that she had in the beginning of time. Marduk defeats kingu and then cuts tiamat and separates the earth from the sky, and from the blood of kingu, humans were born. Some of the elements in the story is similar to greek mythology. Some patterns recognizable from greek creations one parallel one of the primordial gods (uranus) is castrated to form venus and aphrodite, and the blood dropping to the earth there are creatures.
