Document Summary
The main protagonist in the stories are the heroes. A hero is basically a demigod part human, part god. One of the function of these heroes is to be something in between the mortal and immortal realm. It is not certain how much the gods care about us. To make the gods care more about us we praise them, sacrifice animals and stuff for them, etc. the greek gods are not the very kindly nice creatures who care about human beings and try to help us out. The gods are mostly just concerned about themselves. And we kind of just have a trade relationship with them. In delphi 2 messages are there- nothing in excess, and know thyself. This is why the greeks needed and worshipped the heroes. They were worshipped the same way people would worship gods.
