Colony of some sort that results in the fusion of southern mesopotamian culture and local syrian culture. Architecture seems to be more what we see in the north in later years. Mari played a small part in the early bronze age. Becomes important in the old babylonian period. Zimri-lim was king of mari from about 1779-1757 bc.
