Mediterranean sea during the alpine-himalayan orogeny: this may have caused the ice age since the tearing of the mountains caused sediments to move down the river, which in turn got weathered and consumed a lot of co2. In subduction, plates push down on each other, but in obduction, the plates move past one another. It is comprised of sedimentary rocks and produces granite: plutons: rocks are melting at death but the magma doesn"t reach the surface so the volcanoes cannot form. The rock just cools to death. (plutons = granite): granites have silica but basalts do not have much.
