EESA10H3 Lecture 11: Lecture 11 Note
Document Summary
It always changes - never stays the same. From the graphs we can see the changes. Ice age or glaciations period lasted for many years. In periods of melting upwe call that period interglaciation and they last around 10-15 000 years. We are lucky to b in a warmer period that can support life on earth. There was life before too but the flourishing of the plants and animals were after when it warmed. 10,000 years ago and then agriculture was established. In the last 130 years, will give you some explainations. If this doesn"t exist, the average temperatures around earth would be around -15c! we"ll all freeze to death. Green house gases: water vapor (not very toxic but has a high possibility in greenhouse effects, co2 photosynthetic effects make the fluctuations to appear in different seasons, ch4, n2o. Atmospheric co2 level and global temperature: the graphs almost match. This is proof that co2 is closely related with temperature change.
